About the Role
Carers Australia has an opportunity for an experienced National Director Policy to join our team in Canberra on a fulltime basis.
Reporting to the CEO, your key responsibilities are:
Develop Carers Australia’s policy strategy and objectives to align with Carers Australia’s, vision, mission, strategic plan and objectives.
Guide and develop the policy team’s annual work plan with a focus on evidence-based, high-quality policy development.
Lead the development of Policy team outputs such as submissions, briefs, scoping documents and policy positions for adoption by Carers Australia
Lead and manage the Policy team, developing their capabilities and knowledge with a focus on performance excellence.
Develop the organisation’s ability to capture relevant knowledge and intelligence that informs its policy and advocacy work.
Identify trends and issues that affect carers and collaborate with other teams in the organisation, and external stakeholders, to respond appropriately when needed.
To be considered for this position you will have:
Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or substantial experience (ideally 5+ years) in the management of policy and research
Proven expertise in team management and team leadership
Strong stakeholder management skills including the ability to incorporate consultation and research data into policy design.
Demonstrated understanding of policy issues, policy development, advocacy processes and ability to drive change at a Federal Government level.
Excellent representational and interpersonal skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to write appropriately evidenced and referenced submissions, reports and resource materials.
Strong research and data analysis skills and ability to present data in a format that is meaningful to varying audiences.
Demonstrated ability to align resources behind organisational agenda and objectives.
Demonstrates drive and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Experience in driving cultural uplift.
You will be rewarded with a highly attractive salary circa $125,000 plus superannuation, plus salary packaging.
