The Senior Tax Accountant who will play a crucial role in utilizing their expertise in tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles to handle diverse responsibilities across a portfolio of entities. This individual should thrive in an autonomous environment and will be accountable for tasks such as analysing financial data, preparing tax returns, conducting in-depth research on tax laws, and offering guidance to ensure compliance while minimizing tax liabilities.
Working in close collaboration with internal finance teams, the CEO, external auditors, and regulatory agencies, the Senior Tax Accountant will ensure precision and adherence to tax requirements. This position offers a unique opportunity for a seasoned tax professional to contribute to the overall success of our organization.
Independently preparing activity statements, such as GST, PAYG, PAYGI, and FBT.
Taking charge of the preparation of Company Tax Returns, including those for consolidated entities.
Independently preparing grouped payroll tax returns.
Demonstrating flexibility by assisting with lower-level duties, including reconciliations, bookkeeping, and administrative support, while actively contributing to the development of junior staff.
Collaborating with the team to assist in strategic tax planning as required.
Conducting tax and compliance research as needed to ensure up-to-date knowledge.
Managing a set of financials and preparing them for review or presentation to internal stakeholders, including Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cashflow statements.
Effectively collaborating with various teams within the finance group, including Financial, Management, Tax, and Bookkeeping teams.
Implementing best practices and controls to mitigate tax-related risks and ensure compliance.
Maintaining organized and accurate files and records to facilitate efficient record-keeping processes.
Demonstrating competence in managing up to 50 different entities of varying complexities, with the support of a junior team
Desirables
Bachelor's in accounting, Finance, or related. CPA/CA Qualification with be highly regarded – those studying towards or without will still be considered.
Deep understanding of federal, state and local tax laws & regulations.
Advanced Excel; strong skills with accounting software.
Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical abilities.
Excellent communication for cross-functional collaboration.
Proactive, adaptable, and deadline driven.
ERP systems and financial modelling experience will be highly regarded.
