The Mt Cuthbert Group is a privately owned, Australian based copper and gold producer with extensive explorations assets in NW Queensland. Reporting directly to the COO, this senior leadership position will maximise the potential of our existing Rocklands operation and expand the portfolio through the Mt Cuthbert tenements (1,500 km2). The position will provide people oversight to the Rocklands asset which currently employs close to 250 staff working across mining and processing operations and produces copper concentrate from our significant 3 mtpa processing facility.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for effectively leading, coaching, directing and co-ordinating the People and Culture requirements of the Mt Cuthbert Group to meet budget, profitability, operational, quality and safety objectives.

The General Manager, People and Culture provides comprehensive high level administrative, strategic planning and operational support, research and advice to senior management on administrative matters such as HR & staff management, programs, policies & practices that support the achievement of the overall business goals.

You will:

Act as an advisor to the Management team in the development of business tactics, objectives & solutions when required. The General Manger People and Culture requires strong leadership skills, is self-motivated and quality oriented.

Build and nurture loyal, long-lasting relationships with high-value suppliers and key accounts in order to support the achievement of the overall business goals including process improvement and improved vendor terms.

Develop and manage the organisation's staff resources by establishing practices, policies, and partnerships to expand and mature the organisations capabilities.

Advise & support management in developing and implementing approved processes & best practice methods relating to all aspects of recruitment, development, industrial relations, performance management.

Provide comprehensive reporting to the board, shareholders and senior leadership team as required.

Skills and Experienced Required:

Tertiary qualifications in HR or Business highly regarded but not essential

10 years experience in HR Management, recruitment and IR, ideally operating at senior level within the mining industry

Demonstrated record of developing high performing teams, tracking of metrics, and of driving consistency

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build, develop and maintain working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders

Highly developed commercial acumen and well developed conflict resolution skills

Live, fly, drive to/in proximity to Cloncurry/Mt Isa Region

In return for the right candidate, we are offering a competitive salary, lifestyle roster with flexibility and autonomy and the chance to be part of an exciting new team.

The role will be required to have frequent (weekly) site and intra and interstate travel to both the head office (Adelaide) and site operations. Townsville or Brisbane are the preferred points of hire, alternatively relocation to Cloncurry for a residential position with generous allowance could be negotiated.
