Position Title: Clinical Unit Head of Cardiology (0.8 - 1 FTE)
Classification: HM35 – HM42 (Year 3 Specialist – Executive Medical Specialist)
Salary per hour (exc. super): $143.43 - $177.94 per hour
Hours per fortnight: 56 – 76 hrs
Employment Status: Ongoing Full Time (part time may be negotiated for successful applicant).

Role Description
An exciting Cardiology leadership opportunity exists for an experienced Cardiologist to join a leading regional health service in Bendigo, Victoria. As the Clinical Unit Head, you will provide clinical and medical leadership for Cardiology services and will work closely with the Nurse Unit Manager of Cardiology and other Clinical Unit Heads to provide leadership and management required to implement Bendigo Health’s strategic vision and meet clinical service delivery requirements. The role reports operationally to the Clinical Director of Ambulatory & Critical Care and professionally to the CMO.

The Cardiology Team
The Cardiology department is responsible for patients in several departments including inpatient wards, emergency department, ICU/CCU in addition to Cath Lab, Diagnostic Cardiology and Cardiology outpatient Clinics. The Cardiology department is led by a Clinical Unit Head, supported by Deputy Clinical Unit Head/s and managed by a Business Manager and a Nurse Unit Manager. The department has its own bed card and also provides a consultative service to other specialties as requested. The team consists of Cardiologists, Deputy Clinical Unit Head/s, Cardiac Nurses, Cardiac Technologists and Cardiac Sonographers, Cardiology registrars, hospital medical officers (HMO) and interns. This position will be expected to participate in the on call roster as required.
Required skills and attributes
Fellowship with the RACP or equivalent degree enabling full unconditional registration with AHPRA. Fellow of applicable college training program with significant clinical experience working at a senior level. All Cardiology specialities will be considered. Experience in senior medical leadership within a cardiology service, budgetary knowledge, proven ability to develop and maintain effective service interactions required in the operation of a busy Cardiology service and understanding of funding implications.
