The Organisation:
Join a dynamic government agency committed to creating positive outcomes for individuals, families and communities across Queensland. As the Principal Management Accountant, you will be working in a complex area with large volumes of data while providing critical support around financial performance, budget management and funding to senior stakeholders. This will be a temporary position through the end of February 2024. Although there is potential to extend, no extension has been formally approved.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-level strategic advice to support critical areas and senior managers around management reporting, governance and proposals
Support with the development of management accountabilities to ensure compliance with the department's financial management framework
Undertake detailed financial analysis work. This will require working through huge volumes of data while working to understand and interpret the data to better support the department
Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts to support budget planning and resource allocation.
Provide expert guidance on financial policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Develop strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
Monitor and assess the effectiveness of budget management reporting initiatives and make continuous improvements.
Qualifications:
CPA or CA or similar communication
Extensive experience in management accounting and financial reporting demonstrated in a leadership role.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
Demonstrate a proven track record in leading and managing complex financial projects and initiatives.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, policies, and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in financial software and tools, including advanced proficiency in Excel, Powerbi and financial modeling.
Government experience will be helpful.
