What you’ll do
We’re looking for a high-energy Legal Counsel to join our consistent Legal Team, providing risk aware counseling and assistance to the Equifax business in Australia. This is a hands-on role, with significant exposure to business stakeholders.
Legal services you will provide include: legal and advice on a variety of issues, in particular privacy (including credit reporting) and data, consumer and consumer credit law; drafting and negotiation of complex customer and supplier contracts, involvement in industry regulator and industry body interactions; and involvement in business and technology transformation projects.
What experience you need
Tertiary qualified with undergraduate law degree and holding a current practicing certificates
Commercial lawyer with at least 2 years’ post admission experience
A passion for Privacy/data law
Proven commercial contract drafting, review and negotiation skills
Ability to explain legal concepts in a commercial clear and practical way
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Capacity to assume responsibility and work independently, while collaboratively working as part of a team.
Strong organisational and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with senior management

Prior in house experience
Experience in a technology/data related environment
Consumer credit law experience
