Full job description Finnish Early Childhood Education (Ballarat Central) Pty Ltd introduced HEI Curriculum, an education program based on Finnish early education principles emphasizing play based learning and holistic child development. We are now looking for a childcare centre director (Level 6.7 of Children’s Services Award 2010 ) to support daily operations and HEI Curriculum implementation in HEI Schools Ballarat Central Early Education Centre located in Ballarat, Victoria.
This is a full-time position (38 hours per week) based in Ballarat, Victoria with the following requirements. The salary is $80,745 - $85,000 plus superannuation commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
Ensure the operation of the centre complies with the National Quality Framework across all related areas.
Be responsible for the performance of the centre by applying adequate business and financial disciplines including maintaining records.
Be responsible for planning, establishing and executing various programs and activities to cater for the development of the children enrolled in the childcare centre in accordance to their ages.
Design educational programs and activities that assist in developing the children's physical strength, social capability, mental health, and cognitive and intellectual development.
Establish proper arrangements and care for children engaged in daycare services.
Provide guidance, instructions, monitoring and feedback to other staff including but not limited to educators, room leaders and teachers to make sure activities organised for children are properly implemented.
Support and equip educators to provide holistic child development through training and mentoring.
Ensure the centre's operation is safe for all people working and visiting the centre including but not limited to children, parents, staff, visitors, etc.
Establish a proper record management system to ensure all records are properly maintained regarding the operation of the childcare centre, including ensuring correct processes and documentation are collected and recorded in the system before any child engages in the centre.
Act on behalf of the childcare centre to liaise with external parties such as government authorities, contractors, parents, community representatives etc. and communicate with these parties properly.
Keep track of the latest regulations regarding the operation of childcare centres, engagement of staff, safety requirements, etc., to make sure the operation of the childcare centre is in compliance with laws and regulations.
Liaise with external authorities and organisations as required to improve the learning outcomes of children.
Provide ongoing support to ensure that the HEI Curriculum is properly implemented in the centre.
Liaise with international HEI School communities to maintain strong connections and facilitate exchange of experience.
Ensure certain programs and activities are designed and implemented in a manner that is friendly and conducive to the learning of children with special needs.
Liaise with family members from different cultural backgrounds.
Provide staff training and mentoring on holistic children's development, with a particular focus on special needs support and related communication techniques with parents, including coordinating continuing professional development.

Position criteria
Preferably 10 years of overall experience working in childcare centres in the role of educator, room leader and/or early childhood teacher.
Customer service focused : committed to providing exceptional customer service across all channels – written, phone and face-to-face.
Communication : the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience.
Attention to detail: excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally.
Commerciality: ability to apply knowledge in a practical, commercial manner.
Teamwork: willingness to assist and support others as required and get on with team members.
Time management/organisation : accomplish objectives effectively within time frame given and carry out administrative duties within portfolio in an efficient and timely manner.
Language skills : HEI Schools is a global family and our company envisages that it will connect and share experiences with other HEI Schools in Asia. Therefore, the ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral, in Mandarin, Japanese or Korean will be highly regarded.
Specific knowledge and skills on holistic development of children : knowledge of different early childhood education pedagogies and mental health background will be highly regarded.
Qualifications
Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care
Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Education or Management
Approved First Aid, CPR and Anaphylaxis and Asthma Certification
A current Working with Children Check (Employee)
A National Police Check valid within 6 months or willingness to complete
